In the Info page of Netalyzer, where it says 'Adapter' at the top, it shows details of my Local area connection. All well and good.

However, there's also a drop down arrow which points to another page: 'Local Area Connection 3', and where it says Adapter on this page it states: 'Microsoft TV/Video Connection'. whatever this is. :fear:

Now when I go to 'Network Connections' -(winxp pro b.t.w)- there's only the one LAN listed, the one I use.

I tried unhiding all files but still can't find 'Local Area Connection 3' anywhere else on the computer but in the Netalyzer page.

Maybe someone can shed some light on this. :coffee:

The list of network adapters is read from the registry, the location depending on the Windows version. The AdapterID shown represents a subkey of HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Adapters\ in your case.

I do have a few there that aren't shown in Network Connections either; for example one for adapter Windows Mobile-based Device; that network connection would only become visible if I connect my mobile phone.

What this Microsoft TV/Video Connection thing is for, I have no idea. Looking it up at Microsoft lead to this (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa940123.aspx); with a very short description of:The Microsoft TV/Video Connection component provides support for a TV/video connection.
Not sure why they deal with this a network way, possibly for TV streaming over the Internet? Since it doesn't show in Network Connections, it's not active, so shouldn't cause any trouble or performance issue. All XP installations I just checked seem to have it.
