I know this site is for protection of computers. However, can I ask questions regarding other type issues. Such as problems with Sims2, Video Drivers, etc?

If no, thanks for reviewing this post if so... I'll be posting my questions.......

Thanks much

My First concern is the SP1 for Vista... the update is available on my daughter's HPtablet running vista...

Noticed concerns about SP1 and vista on the boards.. We were prompted by HP for a Bios change to accept the SP1... which we accepted last night.. just wondering if I should give more time for any issues to be worked out before accepting the update..

What do you all think??

Prompt by HP? How?

Was it a representative, or was a notice or website you visited?

These two links give an insight on what Windows Vista SP1 is all about. I would suggest upgrading to it as it improves performance and stability.

However, if you decide to delay it, it is up to you. The Vista SP1 should be roughly a 65MB with Windows Update.

It was an HP update... the tablet gets updates from HP in order to keep the HP equipment up to date.. as well as Windows updates..

So far so good with everything they have suggested... Should I be more cautious in the future... ???

Then it'll do good for the computer.

From how I see it, an update, will do good, as it might makes minor fixes and tweaks and improves stability and performance. But that is in general. A update may be just a minor fix. Compared to major updates;upgrades, like Windows XP SP3 and Vista SP1, it can be defined as a upgrade with stability and performance improvement.

You should not be cautious (at least that's what I think :cowboy:), about updates in the future. Prior to updating, there should be a brief description about the update and what it does.

Like you said, so far so good. It would be up to you. The only person that knows your system better than anyone else is you.

What malware problems were you experiencing? Have you started a topic/thread in the forum, requesting for help?

Malware may be the cause of a hindered Internet Connection.

I would suggest holding off the updates, this includes SP3 and HP updates, as there may be a possibility that the updates (even when downloaded correctly) may be corrupted.

Hello,

I really should just stay with this in malware.. but .

Might be the best idea for the moment. ;)

First, we need to get a little organized, this is not something I do a lot (troubleshoot) and I need to get feedback from things I suggest so I will know what I have tired.
I asked you to run System File Checker, was this done and did it help?

Have a look here: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-nt-2000-xp/638168-problems-internet-explorer.html
the first message posted is:
szAppName : iexplore.exe szAppVer : 7.0.6000.16512 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
which is exactly the message you posted. Read the suggestions in this topic, it may be a broswer issue.

Let me know about System File Checker And what happens when you try the suggestions in that link.

My next question, do you have another browser besides Internet Explorer?

Thanks
