I actually never heard of an open source virus scanner before.......what's it called?

ClamAV is open source,I believe.And I think there are a couple others.

well i think your good, i don't think it would be any less safe. But if i could recommend an antiviruis, avast is defiantly a good choice. =]

Just remember spybot detects spyware and keyloggers, and dialers. etc. Not viruses!! ;)

Well, of course any software can be not secure it really depends on how well coded the software is. A good indication of that, is the popularity of the software and ClamWin and ClamAV are the most popular open source anti-virus software today

If it wasn't well coded, people wouldn't download and use the program :grandpa:


I do not however recommend using ClamWin as a replacement to your current anti-virus because it does get less frequent definition updates which in this day and age can make a big difference. None the less, ClamWin is a very useful and portable Anti-virus app :police:
