Hello,

Please run Spybot-S&D in "Advanced Mode" and go to "Settings" --> "Scheduler". Hit the "Edit" button at the top of the "Scheduler" section in Spybot-S&D. Then hit "OK". Now you are asked to enter the password (your windows account password).

Please consider the following link in order to see how to use the Scheduler: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/tasksched_topnode.mspx

If the answers to spybotsandra (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?find=lastposter&t=3286)'s questions are both yes then see the following (although I have never heard of someone with this problem):
“0x80070005: Access is denied" error message when you create a scheduled task in Windows XP Service Pack 2

============
I do not use a password to logon. Is there a case that there is a password
and I do not use it ?? what the idea of several accounts ??? will the task
run even if i'm logged on to my original account while the password that i
will use will be a dummy user (that will be given password) ??

Hello,

To have a look at which rights you have on your account please have a look at your Windows control panel.
Below the point "user and passwords" you can see which group your user name belongs to.
If you didn't change how to start Spybot-S&D you should have the same rights as it is placed there.
To run Spybot-S&D under a different user account (for example one with admin rights) please right-click here and choose 'open as'.
There should be an option to enter a user name and a password.

O.k. i'v added a password to my login user ... but I use it only for the TASK issue.

Still do not understand the idea that if i do not want a logon password i need to create one just for the TASK issue.

Thank You very much .

Spybot uses the OS scheduler and XP requires a password to schedule. I'll list the reference again:
Scheduled Tasks cannot run with a blank password
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310715
A user published a method to get around the password requirement:
Scheduling a Spybot scan under Windows XP
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=1828
This not a recommendation that you bypass the password requirement. In fact, if you are considering bypassing the password requirement, make sure that you read my comments (as well as the comments that I added on bitman (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=74)'s behalf) in the second post in that thread before bypassing the password requirement:

I have disabled this with the following registry change:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > Lsa

limitblankpassworduse
Change the value in the Value Data box from 1 to 0

Thank you very much !!!

I know I'm a late-comer on this thread, but would just like to add re the warnings on the XP password setup change. Having done that for my older machine some years ago, I have not ever noticed any sort of sudden increase in hijacks, or viruses, etc.
This does work a treat, and it is just lamentable that MS (again :banghead: !) hasn't ever worked on or fixed this. It's a complaint about XP that people have butted heads with for years. Like I say, I've never noticed it to cause a problem and do have a lot of malware detecting and anti-virus running constantly.

BIG NB(!): If you do go ahead and create a password for a user acct in XP, you cannot then later undo that and go back to a blank password for that account. You'll be stuck with having to use a password from thereon out; hence, I've always much preferred to just go the route described herein.

BTW, can anyone tell me why the restriction in these forums to not allow one to edit a post  ?
