How Does One Embed Image into Post?

One workaround would be uploading it to a filehosting site (Photobucket) and then paste the code.
So after uploading the code will look something like:
I just made up the link, but you get the idea.

Ok, I think I understand what you're telling me. In order for an image to appear in a post, it must reside on a server somewhere, and that's the purpose of the link - to tell the browser where the image lives so it can be fetched and displayed, right? In your case, the server is photobucket.
But what if the image only lives on the writer's computer? I thought a way existed where while composing a post, I could browse my computer for an image file, insert it in-line into the post, click "submit", and the image would up uploaded from my computer along with the text of the post.

So you'll have to upload it to a file hosting sever then it will display the desired image/photo.
Think about it, if the browser were to upload something from the user's computer without their knowledge/permission, wouldn't that be too much?
In addition, think about the other users that visit these forums. If you're on a cable/DSL connection then it's no problem and in just seconds the images will appear, but on a dial-up connection it's a whole different story.
