Ok i was talking with one of my employees about spybots updating issues and how he said he new a way to possibly fix it.

I was talking with him about the other sotware that safer makes.

I appologize if it doesnt make sense but he seems to think that will work... im sure he is leaving something out of that conversation because i dont always understand him when he is talking about programming stuff.

Just a friendly post... maybe you can try it?

Here is a copy of what he said...

do those apps fail to update as wel
[23:25PM] iMaverik: no
[23:26PM] iMaverik: and spybot doesnt either
[23:26PM] iMaverik: only at work
[23:26PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: heh, I'm quite sick of that with spybot
[23:26PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: no
[23:26PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: it does that behind certain firewalls
[23:26PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: and mostly on certain times
[23:26PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: I know why
[23:27PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: they hash the files with md5, well since its a digest algorithm it fails to detect the unix newline (\n) and the windows version which also has a carriage return
[23:27PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: being \n\are
[23:27PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: well \R but lowercase, gaim is set to correct aolbonics ;)
[23:27PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: anyway
[23:27PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: they use rsync between windows and unix boxen so it fails to convert some of the end line characters and thats why the md5 doesnt match
[23:28PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: if that makes any sense
[23:28PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: they really should fix that
[23:28PM] AcIdFnToNiC2k: its quite annoying
