View Full Version : Offer to reboot into safe mode on difficult files
Situation: when Spybot-S&D cannot remove files, it offers to scan again on reboot.
Experienced: Spybot-S&D scans on reboot.
Expected: an even better chance to remove stuff would exist if run in safe mode.
Why have users waste their time scanning their system only to find out that it was only partially effective and would need to be repeated? There should be more prominent recommendations in the initial wizard shown after install and the FAQs to warn the user that could only be partially effective if not scanned in safe mode and/or upon reboot.
Because in safe mode, the scan takes twice as long, which might not be necessary except for a few heavy cases where files cannot be removed?
Wasting time by booting into safe mode and taking much longer there is surely more wasted time than heaving to reboot into safe mode only in the few cases where you've got really heavy malware. Unless you're a regular malware victim, in which case the bigger problem would be the one sitting in front of the keyboard and clicking too many ugly ads ;)

I just downloaded the NEW version, and 19 ( SOFTWARE PLUGINS) will NOT immunize......this was the same case in the previous version and I was hoping that the new version would fix it.....NOT!! ANY help is appreciated:-)
I was told by tech support to *start computer in safe mode*.well, I have NO idea how to do that.also.....launch spyware, undo immunization, redo immunization, run as ADMINISTRATOR.....I don't even know how to check that.....HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
Function added as advanced file parameter that would update a boot.ini file to add safe mode item if missing and increasing timeout.
