The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "Win32.Ructo.ik" manually.

Description:

Win32.Ructo.ik copies several malicious files to the system directory of the operating system and creates an autorun entry in order to get launched on every start up. When the computer is infected Win32.Ructo.ik tries to download other malware in order to harm the computer.

Removal Instructions:

Autorun:

Please use Spybot-S&D, RunAlyzer or msconfig.exe to remove the following autorun entries.

• Entries named "wmplayer" and pointing to "C:\MessengerPlus\mplayer2.exe".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Messenger\msgsc.dll".
• The file at "c:\MessengerPlus\goggles.log".
• The file at "c:\MessengerPlus\mplayer2.exe".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If Win32.Ructo.ik uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• Remove ".zip;.rar;.nfo;.txt;.exe;.bat;.com;.cmd;.reg;.msi;.htm;.html;.gif;.bmp;.jpg;.avi;.mpg;.mpeg;.mov;.mp3;.m3u;.wav;.scr;" from registry value "LowRiskFileTypes" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Associations\".
