Manual Removal Guide for WhazIt

The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "WhazIt" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$WINDIR>\Downloaded Program Files\downloader.inf".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\Downloaded Program Files\downloader.exe".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\Downloaded Program Files\downloader.exe".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\Downloaded Program Files\downloader.exe".
• The file at "<$WINDIR>\kyf.dat".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If WhazIt uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.

• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "BrowserHelper.CBrowserHelper", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "whaimage.Class1", plus associated values.
• A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "wharederer.Class1", plus associated values.
• Delete the registry key "{267D5BD3-0DC2-4724-A196-7F4794FBB9EB}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{66F67511-2665-4C34-9E20-FAC2C0954EF2}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{D5B72AED-E54A-11D6-B1B2-444553540000}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
• Delete the registry key "{D5B72AEC-E54A-11D6-B1B2-444553540000}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{09EED5BA-BC30-4425-8297-9CD5C2BDD05F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{23126DC7-59C4-4DF1-9E4B-98232EB3BD1E}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{AB939F60-353C-4027-812A-33DBC26C95FB}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{C4F61F0F-10D0-4DC0-94DB-4E6232CC4E85}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
• Delete the registry key "{D5B72AEB-E54A-11D6-B1B2-444553540000}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• Delete the registry key "{026ABEA5-E491-43FC-909B-95CF1184B135}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• Delete the registry key "{71CEF683-76B3-4B99-BA74-5A571CE87962}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
• Delete the registry key "{10955232-B671-11D7-8066-0040F6F477E4}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry key "{267D5BD3-0DC2-4724-A196-7F4794FBB9EB}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry key "{66F67511-2665-4C34-9E20-FAC2C0954EF2}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry key "{D5B72AED-E54A-11D6-B1B2-444553540000}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry key "{D7D7004C-A763-4F8C-B0D4-55A7E017E69D}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
• Delete the registry value "{C9176930-9C9F-4cba-9723-0F58C3E7CED6}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\".
• Delete the registry value "{C9176930-9C9F-4cba-9723-0F58C3E7CED6}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser\".
• Delete the registry key "wms" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\".
• Delete the registry key "{DCF0768D-BA7A-101A-B57A-0000C0C3ED5F}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\".

If WhazIt uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

Browser:

The following browser plugins or items can either be removed directly in your browser, or through the help of e.g. Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer.
