Manual Removal Guide for IncrediBar

The following instructions have been created to help you to get rid of "IncrediBar" manually.
Use this guide at your own risk; software should usually be better suited to remove malware, since it is able to look deeper.

Description:

IncrediBar is an adware toolbar that gets installed along other software. It shows advertising within Internet Explorer and Firefox and changes the default search engine and startpage.
Even uninstall does not revert changes to search engine and startpage. The Firefox addon installs without a request and does not uninstall with the Windows uninstaller and remains fully functional.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.

• Products that have a key or property named "incredibar".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.

• The file at "<$APPDATA>\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<$ENV(IncrediBarFF_Path)>\searchplugins\MyStart Search.xml".
• The file at "<$PROFILE>\Local Settings\Temp\ImInstaller\incredibar_installer.log".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Incredibar.com\incredibar\<$ENV(IncrediBarDll_Path)>\incredibarApp.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Incredibar.com\incredibar\<$ENV(IncrediBarDll_Path)>\incredibarEng.dll".
• The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Incredibar.com\incredibar\<$ENV(IncrediBarDll_Path)>\incredibarsrv.exe".

Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If IncrediBar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

• Remove "http://mystart.incredibar.com/*" from registry value "URL" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{CFF4DB9B-135F-47c0-9269-B4C6572FD61A}\".
• Remove "MyStart Search" from registry value "DisplayName" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{CFF4DB9B-135F-47c0-9269-B4C6572FD61A}\".

If IncrediBar uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.

Browser:
