Does the Spybot S&D Personal Edition CD still work?

Tonight I went to check a laptop with the Personal Edition bootable CD, and I was unable to get updated definition files, with the following error message:

"Error retrieving update info file".

This is the third time in the past few months, on two different computers, that this CD has failed to get the updates. (It still loads normally otherwise.) Has the ability of the Personal Edition to get updates been shut down? I would think that, at least, it should be able to get the most recent definition files that are still available for SS&D 1.6.2.

Any useful info will be appreciated.
