    Red face SOS....please

    Hi
It's only fair to warn you first, that i am computer illiterate!!!
My computer is running VERY slow. I have tried to download,
    Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 - product description
    md5: C1A843913269018A8FC962407D7E5169
But after clicking the 'run' prompt, i receive an error message stating,
'the setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program'.

Can anyone advise me what i need to do?

    Many thanks
    Pauline

    On the following Web page:

If you click (left) on the download button to the right of the following item:
    • Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 - product description
      md5: C1A843913269018A8FC962407D7E5169

Application to scan for spyware, adware, hijackers and other malicious software.

It brings you the following Web page where the download actually are:

Some of the links on that page are direct downloads, others are links to urls where the actual download of Spybot's installation program (spybotsd14.exe) can be downloaded.

I hope this helps. If not, please reply.

    Question

    Many thanks for your assistance......
I have been able to commence the set up wizard
But when i reach step 4, it prompts me to use the same proxy address as the internet explorer uses to download updates: 127.0.0.1:5405

But when i click to use this proxy i receive the following message
Error: configuration Automation/WebUpdate/UseAddress does not exist!

    Please advise me,
    Kind regards

To set up access to the integrated update facility through a proxy server:
    • Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced mode > Settings > Settings. About 2/3 of the way down the option tree there is a category "Web update'. Check the last item in the list "Use proxy to connect to update server". A pop-up will come up were you can enter the information required.

If you are sitting behind a proxy server and need to know what the settings should be, there are hints in the following article on how to find them:

If you are in a corporate environment, you may have to contact your network administrator to allow access to updates using Spybot's integrated update facility through the proxy server. However, I hope that you realize that the license for Spybot is no long free for corporate users of Spybot - Search & Destroy. There is a special product for corporate use of Spybot - Search & Destroy called the Spybot S&D Intranet Server:

    And from:

The price for the corporate use of Spybot - Search & Destroy (with UpdateServer if more than 1 user), update service and email support depends on the number of connected nodes (network PCs). There will be a 50% rebate for schools, universities (where the number of nodes is staff only) and other non-profit organisations (sic).
