Brave-Sentry, and the ever returning trojans

My spouse somehow managed to get Brave Sentry on her computer. Now I've tried everything I can to get it and the other trojans removed, but they keep re-installing right back. Last Scan from McAFEE said I had

abc1006def[1].exe

I've had q.exe, 7.exe, etc. also show up. Spy Sweeper indicates an attempt to re-install a trojan every time I clean (where in safe mode or not). How do I figure out what I have and how to clean it.

Sometimes it gets so bad, that it won't let me open certain web pages, or download applications, other times, like now, it is actually working somewhat ok, but extremely slow.

"BEFORE you POST" which includes running Spybot-S&D in safe mode after an on-line anti virus scan.
