Something Is Preventing Me From Using Spybot And Other Apps

BEEN UNABLE TO DL/INST SPYBOT,SPYWAREGUARD,ETC.
RUNNING 3100 DELL, XP PRO, IE7. i HAVE TRIED EVERY METHOD IN MOST OF THE ONLINE HELP SERVICES.
RE:SPYBOT, FOLLOWING INFO, DL'd THE SDHelper.dll
FILE, SINCE THE BHO'S HAVE MYSTERIOUSLY GONE AWOL. IN FACT, BHODEMON IS EMPTY.
SPYBOT:TOOLS: RESIDENT HAS T-TIME CHECKED OFF
BUT CAN NOT CHECK THE SDHELPER BOX.

IMMUNIZE CONTROLS: TOP AREA IS OK, LOWER IS NOT,BLUE EXCLAMATION POINT, PLUS, CANNOT CHECK
THE BOX...USUALLY FOR SILENT BLOCK, ETC.

i HONESTLY BELIEVE THERE IS A MALWARE/SPYWARE
THAT BLOCKS BHO'S AND OTHER ITEMS.
HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED. THANKS, FRIENDS.ITMBA

"BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum

Please do not post there writing in Caps though, as it is considered shouting. Unless doing so makes it easier to post and then no problem.

hi. in the "read before posting" section, where it says
to dl spybot if i haven't already---that's fine, but every
time i have tried to dl and install spybot or spywareguard et al, just as I hit the "Finish" page/button, a msg
goes onscreen.."either says files are corrupted."..
and/or "Error in creating reg key."....
so...can't get spybot so can't run it.

If you experience problems skip those parts.

Can you produce the HJT log to post into the topic you will start, or is that also not workable?

To Tashie and All...
Here's what's happening and what's happened:
Last night/this morning, ran the "eTrust Antivirus Web
Scanner...all went well until I DL'd the "signatures" DL.
It ran for seven (7) lonely hours...and still did not finish. Kept checking TaskManager but the dreaded
"Not Responding" message never showed up.
Went to be about 7am.Tonight ran through the eTrust
toy again..same thing happening...ran from 6:30pm
til now, 8:30pm...results=zero.
Instead of trying the Trend Micro thingie (I liked it better when it was Housecall)...I am about to reboot into Safe Mode...and "fix"everything found in Red.
After that--whether it works or not, going to DL
hijackthis...and will post to you at that time...regards.D.
