    DriveCleaner/WinFixer pop up? Please help?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently a pop up came up while i was on the site .allmusicguide.com and bebo and a pop up came up saying

"NOTICE! You have not completed the scan. If your computer has tracks of all adult sites you have visited and files that get installed by themselves while you browsing, it can violate your online privacy and could compromise your career and marriage. you need to clean up all the temporary and history records of your computer to remove these tracks.

Would you like to install DriveCleaner to scan for and, if found, remove these browsing tracks now?(Recommended)

    OK Cancel"

I clicked the red x/close button at the top right of the window. I dont know if it downloaded, to my knowledge i dont think it did, but im not sure.

After that i downloaded "XoftSpy" the free version that only scans and doesnt remove items, and it said after i did a full scan, under a list it said Vendor
    Agent Trojan
    Adware.LinkMaker
    PCTattleTale

then i read reports that Xoftspy was a rogue application, and i uninstalled it.

Now i dont know what to do, and if my PC is infected, could you please tell me what to do and what you would do?

    Hi DarkmanX!

    • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on
      Edit > Select All
      then click on
      Edit > Copy
to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Why you feel unconfortable using hjt? If there's some problems with using it just ask and I try to advise. In a case like this hjt is the best option available.

Ive read about it and saw pictures of it and i think it would be the best option for me. Would using SUPERantivirus remove it? SUPERantivirus claims to be able to remove WinFixer?

    Hi

If you really want to get rid of winfixer then you should be ready to use hjt. If it was dangerous tool so many people wouldn't post their logs here. So, if you are ready to take hjt path then do as I instructed in my first reply otherwise I can't help you.
