    Angry HELP REMOVE:Smitfraud-C, Command Service

These two viruses keep coming back. I used Spybot-search and destroy numerous times, but it doesn't seem to have an effect. I've been dealing with this virus for weeks now! Please help!!

    Hi duduhead008

    • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
    • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Hi

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. You are quite behind on your Windows Updates and Patches!!

The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Click here to get WinXP SP1a: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en

Apply the update, reboot, then go to Windows Update and install all the Critical Updates (Note: Except for WinXP SP2)
Click here for Windows Update: http://www.windowsupdate.com/

After installing all the Patches and updates, reboot, then post a fresh Hijack This log.

I tried downloading the WinXP SP1a onto my computer, but when it was downloading, it never worked. A popup always came up that said that "the file cannot be found." I restarted my comp and tried it again, but it still doesn't work. So I didnt download any of the updates after that. What should I do now?

    Hi

    Please go here: http://www.microsoft.com/genuine
Click on Validate Windows. When validation fails, you'll see a button to click on which will provide information on how to acquire a WGA Kit.
