    Default Help please

    Hi,

Just looking for a bit of advice please.

When i run spybot recently it is giving me tons of errors, which are always there now.

here is one example of the errrors

    Error during check!

Activity keylogger [3] Access violation at address 005a4ba7 in module SpybotSD.exe Read of address 000000014

Now i have like tons of these messages every time i run SD. Some say actual keylogger some say activity, some just have a name like Adware spy. It will end with a few entries of spyware which will get fixed.

But there errors are always there ?

    What does it mean >?

Any help would be greatly apreciated?

    Thanks

    Hello,

This seems to be a little bug in the old version.

Please download the new Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.5 Release Candidate 1.
    This should fix it.
    Here is the download link:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/file...spybotsd15.exe

Please do not forget to update afterwards.

    Best regards

    Hello,

Similar errors at various points during the scan have been reported on numerous occasions by people running Windows systems.

The scan terminates when the error occurs.

You can translate (German to English) using:
    http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/

Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse = Access injury with address (or more correctly Access violation at address)
    Modul = Module
Lesen von Adresse = Reading from address

    This (in German):
Error during check!: --- various --- [Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse 005FD5D2 in Modul 'SPYBOTSD.EXT'. Lesen von Adresse xxxxxFFF] ()
    Becomes (in English):
Error during check!: --- various --- [Access violation at address 005FD5D2 in Module 'SPYBOTSD.EXT'. Reading from address xxxxxFFF] ()

The error seems to be transient in nature and other people seem to have been able to overcome the error by limiting the system resources used by other processes in the system.
In other words, run as little as possible while running the Spybot scan.

    Best regards

Probably not right away, based on the information that's here. I may not be able to help you myself, but something that might be useful would be a list of running processes.

I am new to these forms, but have seen a couple of rules against posting large dumps so I'm not sure if this is appropriate. Since it's short enough, I think it would be helpful to obtain a running process list. Assuming you run Windows XP or newer, and have a keyboard with a [windows] key on it:

    press [Win] + [R]
    type CMD
    press [Enter]

A black window with grey text should appear. At the command prompt, pressing [Enter] after each line, type:

    cd %temp%
    tasklist > result.txt
    notepad result.txt

Line 1: Should change the prompt. If it doesn't, STOP.
Line 2: gets a list of running tasks and creates a file called "result.txt". If it exists, it will be overwritten, i.e., destroyed.
Line 3: show the result in the GUI, where most people like to work.

Then copy the text from notepad into a response to this thread. If possible, enclose it in a "code" tag so it doesn't look like garbage. You can then close notepad and the command prompt, by clicking the [X] and typing "exit", respectively.
