    Default Never Completes System Scan

For well over a year i've used f-secure along with spybot and ad aware. However for a few months now i've never been able to complete a full system scan for f-secure or adaware. They both just freeze (normally several minutes into the scan) but never on the same file. Quick scans are fine. Spybot scans fine and always says no malware etc.

I've tried various online virus scaners from avg to panda all freeze yet my cpu seems perfecly ok until like i say i try a full scan. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Please bear in mind i'm a total novice of the tech jargon.
Step by Step guides are most appreciated!!!

    Regards Chucky1973

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)

All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

There can be many reasons for this and not all of them involve malware. If you feel you have a malware problem then follow the directions posted above and pinned to the top of the forum.

You may also want to consider these links:

and because hardware issues can also be responsible, I would run a diagnostic here:

I would be glad to look if you post a link to the test results.

Please check the link to make sure it is to your test results before you post it. This one is not, look at the topic I posted a link to, you can see the test results in the posts.

    Hi pskelly

I'm confused as to why you think that page does not go to my results page. I assure you it was i simply clicked the test details link to show all details on one page.

Even so i've redone the test and right clicked and copied the web link for the results from my browser

Thanks, now point your mouse at that link and click it. Scroll down the page until you see the flags, click the word in front of the yellow flags.
Disk, Internet, and Windows. I have time constraints so I will show you the first. When you click DISK, you are taken to DISK DETAILS. Your minor broblem there is:
    • Clean up disk space (Drive C) <<< if you click that link you will see:
TIP > Clean Up Disk Space
Drive C has 5806MB of junk files, which is 5 percent of all the space available on the drive.

Click your way through all of the information and benefit from the suggestions. I DO NOT suggest purchasing anything, just follow the tips to see if it helps.

Go back to the links I posted for you and read that information. Quite frankly I can tell you that if you are storing that many junk files you have a maintenance problem.

If you are not familiar with clean manager, that is a tool built into windows to clean the junk for you.
    Clean Manager
    http://spyware-free.us/tutorials/cleanmgr/ <<< tutorial

You already know the scans are saying you do not have malware, so it is likely your issues are with maintenance.

I can look at a HJT log to see if anything is unusual, in order to do that, you would need to read and follow the directions I posted in the beginning and post at least a HJT log.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks
