Question Is the latest update supposed to "fix" MailSkinner?

With this thing eating up 4MB every 5 days, I'm already noticing it slowing.

Not to a crawl, yet: but sooner or later probably.

My piece of Dell laptop (4 years old @ 1.6Ghz), it IS noticeable already and I am completely unable to edit the registry to the point upon a reboot, they all come right back.

    Any Hope or not, puhlease?

Kaspersky denies any particpation in this trojan. Oh Well?

Eager to get this thing OFF my 'puters.

    groucho:

Actually I fail to understand the point of starting this new thread. You have already post several times in the following thread:

You could have asked your question in that thread (unless this is a entirely separate question).

According to this post (on 2007-10-01 @ 10:34) by Buster in that thread:

There have been no updates to Spybot since that was posted and since unfortunately is very late in Germany, it appears that something unforeseen must have happened so that the "next update" anticipated by Buster to be on "Wednesday" did not occur.

The only thing that I can suggest is that you be patient and wait for the "next update".

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

    Hello,

The next update which should also fix the false positive of MailSkinner should be out today. Yesterday it was holiday in germany - celebrating the 3rd of october - the reunion of east and west germany.
    So the office was closed.

    Best regards

I am using version 1.4 and have downloaded the latest update.
Spybot finds mailskinner.rtk and at the end of the scan i click on fix problems.
A box pops up telling me that the item could not be fixed but can be fixed at the next startp up.
I restart the pc and spybot runs another scan.
    Mailskinner.rtk has now been removed.
Just to make sure i restart the pc again and run another search.
Mailskinner.rtk is now gone and a message shows congratulations no threats were found.
