    Default packets sent and received

I am a Newbie to all this and was just wondering when I open my local area connection status box just how many packets sent or received there should be as I have approx 2000 more going out than coming in.

Hope someone can give me an explanation off the difference between sent and received.

    Thanks

that things really only good for telling you if your connected or not (the icon)or repairing a connection. most likely there will always be a difference in total in/out. iam not sure if it includes the packets that routers, cable modems and networked computers can generate which is all normal. unless you are seeing a huge difference one way or the other i wouldnt be concerned. if you think you have something going on in the background then first thing i would do is run a updated anti virus and anti malware software. as for being a diagnostic tool or for somebody worried about malware there are many other tools one can use other than the network connection status.
