    Default Wininit.ini

When I have run Spybot for the past few months it has detected SpywareSheriff.FakeAlert but has been unable to remove it. I have manually removed all the files that I can find associated with SpywareSheriff and, although Spybot still detects it, it does not seem to be causing a problem.
The last few times I have run Spybot & asked it to fix SpywareSheriff I get an error message 'Cannot create file C:\WINDOWS\wininit.ini. The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process' I have tried turning off everything except the essential windows processes but still get this message.
Does anyone know how to overcome this

Consider posting in the Malware Removal forum and having someone take a look at your system.

If you decide to have an experienced malware removal specialist assist you, please follow the procedure in this link to run scans and produce a HijackThis log:
After you have completed the required scans and produced the requested logs, start your own thread in the Malware Removal forum, making sure to post the logs produced from the above instructions.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.
