    Default S&D on USB

Is there a way to install a portable version of S&D? (Poartable Apps)

I second that request. I just hope that the helpers here don't see this 'reply' as a 'thread solved'...

For me I'd even settle for just information about which files and folders in Spybot's program folder make up the absolute core for
    a) scanning + fixing,
    b) immunizing and
    c) updating

    Hello,

    There is already one available:
    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/43.html

    Or take a look here:
    http://portableapps.com/node/2110

At the moment we have to check if the creators haven't change anything security related so that we can allow it.

Apart from that, Spybot-S&D can be easily used with an USB stick, even if the solution is not perfect. Just install it on the PC and then copy the installation folder on the USB stick.

    Here are some workarounds:

Also, if you read the 1.5 announcement, there's something important listed. It's also discussed here on our forums - create this file with the quoted contents to keep the logs on the stick as well.

As for what files are necessary and which are not, you do not need:
    • SDWinSec.exe (Windows Security Center integration)
    • SDHelper.exe (Internet Explorer protection)
    • TeaTimer.exe (unless you want to run it from the stick - some do)
    • unins000.dat/.exe (if installed into the app folder)
    • Help\*.chm (if you do not need the help)
    • Updates\*.zip (these can be discarded once automatically extracted during update)
    • SDMain.exe (is a stub used for WSC integration)
    • SDDelFile.exe (unless you want the command line file removal utility)
    • SDShred.exe (unless you want the stand-alone shredder - for a U3 version, see this)
The last two files will only exist if you use the most current beta.
