IEdefender infection - please help

Hello

I have an IEDefender infection and was wondering if I could get some help? I tried following previous posts of MR_JAK3, but my test results seem to be different.

Would be very greatful if someone could assist

I have run hijackthis and fixed

O2 - BHO: Video On-line - {741403DD-46A4-4D58-8FA7-427335C3BBF6} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\PowerVideo.dll

restarted in safemode and verified that the file is deleted from the windows directory. Now my IE is fine and no annoying popups or google redirections.

Are there further steps I should complete to fully remove this malware?

All I can say with the information I have is that the BHO you remove is usually part of an infection called Smitfraud of which most of the infection is hidden from HJT.

In order to see if the infection has been removed, I need to run the tool for that fix and in order to know if any malware is hidden, we run a Kaspersky scan which is described in the instructions posted above and pinned to the top of this forum.

If you wish to continue to be sure you are clean, start like this.

Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
