Exclamation Cannot Open IE 7, Outlook Express, or access Interent Options...HELP!!!

    Everything is screwed up!

I cannot figure out what happened to my computer. I use Outlook Express to check my email, but when I try to open it it gives me the error report dialog box. When I click to get more info it says:

    "App Ver: 6.0.2900.2180
    Mod Name: msimn.exe
    Mod ver: 6.0.2900.2180
    Offset: 0001145d"

When I reboot my computer I also get an application error for hpqthb08.exe "app error 0xc00007b".

I have Win XP Pro 2. Right now I'm using my ISP's browswer. When I click on Internet Explorer it doesn't even open a window. When I try to access the Internet Options through the Settings Menu it will not open for me to access it. I've even tried it from Run and no luck. I've used what registry repair software I have with no luck. I have Hijack this, so if anyone can make since of what it says it would be greatly appreciated.

Also when I look at my System Information I notice these files are missing and/or unavailable:

    iecont.dll
    iecontlc.dll
    ieuinit.inf

Please help! I've tried Microsoft's support site and nothing is working. I do not believe its a hardware issue. This is a new computer (I've only had it since May)!

    Hi

Unfortunately I've got some bad news for you

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.
