    Default Please Help Live Safety Center, Online Security Guide, Security Toolbar 7.1

    My father's computer has been infected with this Security Toolbar 7.1 as well as icons for Live Safety Center and Online Security Guide.
    I have found no way to remove any of this using various tools.

    Please download
    VundoFix.exe
    to your desktop.
    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files,
      click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing
      Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer,
      click OK.
    • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new
      HiJackThis log.

    Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
    In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
    instructions starting from
    Click the Scan for Vundo button when VundoFix appears at reboot.

    VundoFix partially worked. It detected two files, but wasn't able to delete the other, even on reboot. Should I proceed to use a boot cd to remove the file manually from a command prompt?

    Let's try following method.



    • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
    • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
    • Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
    • Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljgdby.dll
    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\ybdgjlm.*
    • Click Add Files and Click Close Window
    • Click the Remove Vundo button.
    • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
    • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
    • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.

    Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
    In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from
    Click the Scan for Vundo button when VundoFix appears at reboot.



    Delete following file if found:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljgdby.dll


    * Go here to run an online scannner from ESET.
    • Note: You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan
    • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
    • Click Start
    • When asked, allow the activex control to install
    • Click Start
    • Make sure that the option Remove found threats and the option Scan unwanted applications is checkmarked.
    • Click Scan
    • Wait for the scan to finish
    • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
    • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic, along with a new HijackThis log & contents of c:\vundofix.txt.
