Afraid to Use Computer, Please Check HiJack Log

A few days ago, I received e-mails from three online organizations (Paypal, Newegg, and Amazon) regarding my passwords (These did not appear to be phishing.) In the case of Newegg the password had actually been changed. Paypal had prevented the change and the Amazon password was not reset.

I also had a situation where explorer.exe would be locked up by an attempt to "overun" or some such thing. One of my protections prevented the "overun."

I do (did until I'm sure its clean) a lot of sensitive work on this computer and I'm afraid I might have a keylogger. I changed all my various account passwords using another computer and cancelled all my credit cards. Now I'm afraid to use this computer until I'm sure its clean.

When the problem occurred I had Spybot 1.4, SpySweeper, McAfee AntiVirus and ZoneAlarm firewall. I now have Spybot 1.5, Online Armor Firewall and Avira Premium Antivirus along with Spysweeper.

Prior to finding this forum, I ran antivirus scans using F-Secure, Trend Micro, AVG 7.5, BitDefender, Avira, SuperAntiSpyware, and F-Secure and AVG Rootkit Detectors. Three viruses were found which I believe were TR/Keygen.BF

I run Spybot and Webroot Spysweeper every day or two. I also have replaced my Hosts file with one that I found at another forum.

Tonight, I tried to run the Kaspersky Online Scan four times and was unsuccessful. I ran Spybot 1.5 in SafeMode and it only found three instance of Hitbox which is apparently a medium threat cookie.

I am not seeing any malware in this HJT log, but I am seeing this:

You can start with good intentions and wind up with so much junk competing on the computer that none of the programs can effectively protect you from the malware you install them for. Start by making sure you are running one (1) antivirus program and one (1) firewall. This includes the SP2 firewall.

Thank you for your response. I really appreciate your assistance. I believe the following responds to your suggestions and questions.

I haven’t knowingly run any two AV or Firewall programs simultaneously. SP2 firewall is disabled and Online Armor Firewall (Free Version without antivirus http://www.tallemu.com/comparisons.html) and Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Premium (free three month trial – I got a code somwhere.)

I wasn’t using them so I uninstalled AVG AntiSpyware, AVG Antivirus 7.5, and SuperAntispyware. These were the free or trial versions and I installed them a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to get the machine clean. I did have A-Squared Free but I uninstalled it a week ago because I never used it. I have now installed Firefox KeyScrambler and NoScript Add-ons.

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. It is good to remove trial programs, they usually provide no realtime benefit after the trial and use a lot of your resources. We can see how the system improves when we do this, but it is not good to install new programs while we are troubleshooting because it become difficult to know if the new program is contributing to the problem or the solution.

I see no evidence of malware in the HJT log, and since you reported Kaspersky found nothing when you ran it, looks like your computer is clean. If you have any reason to think otherwise, please provide me with that information.
