Has anyone heard of a spy-trojan-whatever named Firefox-Default-Browser ?
I try to run Spybot S&D and IF I run it on "spyware only it runs fine until the last item then it "hangs" for about five minutes and then says "all is fine"

When I run it with "all choices" it stops after only a minute and puts up a message saying "scan aborted by user".
No I did not !
It is trying to "read" firefox - default - browser when it freezes and then shuts the scan down. Spybot S&D stays up and the WinXP Home stays open. It only shuts off the scan.
Like it was custom made for spybot s&d with firefox.

Has anyone heard of this ?
I am on Spybot S&D 1.4 and was planning on running a scan before I updated.
I had best go do that now.

Being the newbie I am I didn't find this listed anywhere.

Hello,

That is no infection.
Probably it has problems with too much temporary files, that are scanned in the last section.
Please also do the following:

Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox:

* Go to Tools > Options.
* Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
* Click the Clear button located to the right of each option
(History, Cookies, Cache).
* Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing
by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the
information.

Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin

* Go to start > run and type: *cleanmgr* and click ok.
* Let it scan your system for files to remove.
* Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle
Bin are the only things checked.
* Press OK to remove them.

I miss read the name.

I hangs and shuts down on [Firefox - Default - Bookmark] not 'Browser'.

Using the rationale that Sandra proposes [Thanks Sandra] I should remove some of the bookmarks on my firefox browser ?

I reinstalled Firefox and Upgraded to Spybot S&D 1.5 and the problem is gone or so it appears.
