    Default Help with removal

    Thanks in advance for the help.

    I ran Spybot in regular and safe-mode, the only thing i didnt remove was an entry called couponbar, because i have some coupon printer software from coupons.com installed and i wasnt sure if it was thinking that that was spyware.

    All advice given is taken at your own risk.
    Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

    Since you did not say what you wanted help removing, I will make these suggestions.


    1) C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe
    For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

    Check Java, I believe it needs one update.

    3) We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
    * Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
    * If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
    * On the left hand side, Click on Tools
    * Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
    * Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
    * Restart your computer.

    4) How to make files and folders visible:
    Click Start > Open My Computer.
    Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
    Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
    Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
    You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

    5) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
    Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    O2 - BHO: Adssite Search Assistant - {1648E328-3E5A-4EA5-A9C6-E5F09EE272DA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\adssite_sidebar.dll

    Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    6) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\ <<< delete the contents of that folder

    7) Run ATF Cleaner
    Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
    Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

    Restart and post a new HJT log. Let me know about any malware issues.

    Run a new Kaspersky and it should be clean. Do not post a clean scan.

    Default New HJT Log

    Above is the new Kaspersky Log and here is the new HJT log. In Spybot there was one thing i didnt clean, it was called couponBar. I dont know if this is connected with coupon printing software that coupons.com installs. If it i dont want to remove it, otherwise i do.

    The computer is running VERY slow, even though it is a Celeron 2.2 with 1gb ram, it shoudnt run as slow at it does. Changing tabs in firefox has so much lag its crazy.

    Kaspersky is clean except for two infected System Restore files, we will clean those in a minute.

    You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly.

    Uninstall one of those, read the links, this can cause all kinds of problems. This was not occuring in the HJT logs I viewed prior to this??
