    Default Is Something Wrong?

    Hi All,

About six weeks ago I upgraded to the newest version of Spybot. The old version would find about 50 spyware/malware programs each week when I did a scan. However, every scan I've run with the new program finds nothing, and a message pops us saying that nothing was found.

Is the new version of Spybot so good that it's blocking everything, or is something wrong with Spybot or my settings? Just to let you know, I visit a lot of sites each week, many for the first time.

    Have Fun,
    Jeff

    Please read the following thread:

If that situation does not exactly fit your particular case, please post either a Checks.yymmdd-hhmm.log or a Fixes.yymmdd-hhmm.log as I asked freebird442 to do.

    Hi,

Thanks for the help. What had me confused is that I had immunized with the old version, but still had about 50 spyware/malware detected each week. I've always used Firefox, so I guess their upgrade really works.

    Thanks again and Have Fun,
    Jeff

    Jeff Colburn:

The versions of Spybot prior to Spybot 1.5 did not immunize Firefox. So unless set Firefox not to accept third party cookies (tracking cookies) they would show up in a scan. Now Spybot immunizes Firefox against the same tracking cookies that it detects.
