    Unhappy Infected By Winzixx

    I downloaded a file that told me I needed to use winzixx to extract it, wellll I found out that it's spyware. I got rid of winzixx itself but it seems the spyware still remains. I appear to have multiple instances of IExplore.exe running in my task manager, and I keep getting random popups. I ran Adaware and that got rid of some stuff but when I tried to run Spybot S&D, Spybot just froze on me.

    So here's my HJT log, I'm going to run the Kaspersky Online scan in a second:

    computer freezes when I try to run Kaspersky Online scan on "critical areas". Whatever this spyware is is overloading IE with multiple instances of it.

    Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
    "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
    http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
    All advice given is taken at your own risk.
    Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

    You are infected, I suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, the junk may download more. If you have any tool I use, delete it and download it new from the link I provide. Read and follow the directions carefully, the tools will not work unless you do.

    You have been infected by this nasty, read about it:
    http://research.sunbelt-software.com...&threatid=8144
    http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/43.html

    C:\invision\mirc.exe <<< Kaspersky says this file is infected also? Scan it with: http://virusscan.jotti.org/
    and post the results if you are not sure.

    Is this a safe program?
    C:\Program Files\Autobahn\mlb-nexdef-autobahn.exe

    We need first to disable TeaTimer that it doesn't interfere with fixes. You can re-enable it when you're clean again:
    * Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
    * If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
    * On the left hand side, Click on Tools
    * Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
    * Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
    * Restart your computer.
    (leave TT disabled until we finish)

    Please Download NoLop to your desktop from one of the links below...

    http://www.spywareedge.net/nolop/NoLop.exe
    http://www.spywaretimes.com/Tools/Do...eTools/NoLop!/
    http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/index....tpmod;dl=get16

    First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
    Double click NoLop.exe to run it.
    Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
    <<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
    When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
    Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
    A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log

    --If you receive an error, "mscomctl.ocx or one of its dependencies are not correctly registered," please download mscomctl.ocx to your system32 folder then rerun the program. --

    programs always say mirc.exe is infected but I know it's a safe program.

    Autobahn is a safe program as well, it is a plugin that streams video from MLB.com (baseball )

    Let me take care of the other fixes.

    Thanks for returning your information and the feedback in post #4. I will only comment that at least once a member scanned mirc.exe and found the file to be infected, things happen.

    1) How to make files and folders visible:
    Click Start > Open My Computer.
    Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
    Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
    Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
    You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

    2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
    http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
    Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

    3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =

    (if you know the 01 items are safe, you may leave them)

    O1 - Hosts: 66.98.148.65 auto.search.msn.com
    O1 - Hosts: 66.98.148.65 auto.search.msn.es

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [two city internet heck] C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\does dog two city\That Style.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [deadinfo] C:\DOCUME~1\JOSHUA~1.002\APPLIC~1\ArmyLoad\activelist.exe
    O9 - Extra button: PalTalk - {4EAFEF58-EEFA-4116-983D-03B49BCBFFFE} - C:\Program Files\Paltalk Messenger\Paltalk.exe
    O16 - DPF: {9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C} (cpbrkpie Control) - http://a19.g.akamai.net/7/19/7125/40...ls/Coupons.cab

    Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

    4) Right click Start > Explore and navigate to these files/folders and delete them if there.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\does dog two city\ <<< delete the folder and contents

    C:\DOCUMENTS and SETTINGS~1\JOSHUA~1.002\APPLICATION DATA~1\ArmyLoad\ <<< delete the folder and contents

    5) Run ATF Cleaner
    Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    Click the Empty Selected button.
    Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

    Restart, post a new HJT log and let me know about any malware issues.

    Thanks

    Thanks for returning your log and it looks good, let's see if Kaspersky finds anything we missed. It should run now that we got the junk out of the way.

    Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
    Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
    Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

    You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

    * The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
    * Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
    * Now click on Scan Settings
    * In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    * Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    * Standard
    * Scan Options:
    * Scan Archives
    * Scan Mail Bases
    * Click OK
    * Now under select a target to scan:
    * Select My Computer
    * This will program will start and scan your system.
    * The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
    * Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    * Now click on the Save as Text button:
    * Save the file to your desktop.

    Then post it here.

    Thanks
