    Default spybot never completes running

I apologize if this has been discussed on this forum before, but every time I try to do a forum search I get:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 524288 bytes) in /var/www/forums/search.php on line 1028

spybot does not complete. It claims to be running, but I can leave it running for 24 hours, and it doesn't complete.

I'm running spybot v1.5.2 on Vista Home.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    Please also do the following:
Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:

    * Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
    * Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
    * Click the "Delete Cookies" button
    * Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
    * When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content",
    click OK

Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have
    Firefox installed):

    * Go to Tools > Options.
    * Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
    * Click the Clear button located to the right of each option
    (History, Cookies, Cache).
    * Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing
    by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the
    information.

Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin

    * Go to start > run and type: *cleanmgr* and click ok.
    * Let it scan your system for files to remove.
    * Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle
Bin are the only things checked.
    * Press OK to remove them.

    Best regards

    Sandra -

I followed those directions and now spybot completes running.

Perhaps your suggestions were intended to reduce the amount of work that spybot has to do. I'm guessing, since you did not mention the purpose of your suggestions.

In any case, spybot requires about 24 hours to inspect my C: drive (I have two other drives), and rarely seems to find problems. On the other hand, a-squared routinely reports tracking cookies and can inspect all three of my drives in an hour or so.

So, while the problem seems to have been indentified, I am not planning to use spybot again in the near future.

Thank you again for your help.
