When I connect to the internet it sometimes appears to be busy with the traffic even when i am not sure if it is doing anything. It will sometimes also disconnect from the internet on its own. Pskelly did give great help. Was just making sure nothing had mysteriously reappeared again.

You have several programs running that will use the internet to check for updates, this is probably the cause of the traffic.
