    Question DOS Based Installer?

It would seem there is a new installer for Spybot as a DOS window appears and says something to the tune of:
    Spybot installer 1.1........

Couldn't read most of it, had to install it on my kids box to see even that lil bit.

Is this going to be a regular part of the install process or was it some slight glitch in code which allowed the window to be seen?

    Thanks everyone.

    Tom

During updates Spybot sometimes executes a special installation process. This update appears to have replaced the advcheck.dll and the Tools.dll.

I noticed that when the updates finished that SpybotSD.exe terminated and restarted. This is speculation, but I assume that since both advcheck.dll and Tools.dll are used in SpybotSD.exe that the code that was executed was to restart SpybotSD.exe to make sure the new dll files were being used.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

    Donna:

This morning upon going into Spybot > Update > Search for Updates (the integrated update facility), I received the following display:
    • Advanced detection library - Advanced detection routines update (87 KB) - 2006-03-10
    • Detection rules - !Updated detections (1 MB) - 2006-04-01
    • Detection support library - Detection support routines update (238 KB) - 2006-03-10

After selecting (checking) the items and clicking "Download Updates" all items were downloaded.

If I go into Spybot > Updates > click "Show Log", my log shows the following (times are EST):

I can not explain why you did not receive the update. Assuming that you are running Spybot 1.4 the only thing that I can suggest is that you check the attributes of the advcheck.dll file:
