    Default Howto disable Spybot S&D-Eraser

    hello,

is it possible to remove the entry for spybot search&destroy in the context menu of files to delete them safety? I just want it to work as scanner but not as file eraser. Also, when I double click a file with the file extension .tpl to open it, I'm always promped, if I want to delete the file ... that's not good for me.

second question: is there a complete portable scan/immunize-version of SS&d?

    thanks so far!

    Hello,

To disable the single files scan please open the registry editor by:
    (a)
press windowskey + r then enter "regedit" (without quotation marks)
    or
    (b)
click on "start" , then "run" and enter "regedit" (without quotation marks)

    (a+b)
and then browse to the following path.

Please delete the following registry keys:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sdfiles
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\sdfiles

    Best regards

    first, thnaks for your reply.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\sdfiles does not exist (there's nothing related to spybot s&d in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\* at all), and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sdfiles doesn't exist either, but there's something in

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sddelfiles:

    ""C:\Programme\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDDelFile.exe" "%1" /ask".

    should I delete this one?

sorrys, but I cannot edit this post, so I'm replying:

I renamed "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sddelfiles" to ""HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sddelfiles_old" but after windows reboot, the entry (and so the context menu entry) comes back ... :(

    unbekannt:

What Windows operating system are you running?

What version of Spybot - Search & Destroy are you running (Spybot » Help » About)?

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition running on a 2.40GHz Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor with 512 MB of RAM and a 533 MHz System Bus.
