I'm using Spybot 1.6.1 and the command line switches that are presented in the FAQ are not working for me. I've tried them in a batch file and straight from the command prompt. There is NO SpybotSD.exe, hidden or otherwise, on my computer, just SDMain.exe. Whenever I execute that .exe with switches, all I get is the main window but nothing happens thereafter. Any thoughts?

- Using Windows Explorer navigate to:
- C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
- In the Tools menu select Folder Options…
- In the Folder Options dialog select the View tab.
- Under the "Hidden files and folders" options:
- Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected.
- Not "Do not show hidden files and folders".
- Uncheck the following option:
- Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
- Under the "Hidden files and folders" options:
- Click the Apply button.
- Click the OK button.
- The files should now be displayed.

That's a no go. I had already tried viewing hidden files before. I just tried it again on another machine running Spybot 1.6.0, it didn't work, then I updated to 1.6.1 and it still didn't work. Below is the result of 'dir' command while in the Spybot Program folder as you can see.

C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy>The results of your DIR listing are exactly what you would expect to see if you did not un-check the "Hide protected operating system files" tick-box - as instructed in step 2 of the notes. Are you sure you completed step 2?
Spybot sets BOTH the Hidden and System attributes on key files - just displaying Hidden files is going to give the result you are getting and will still hide those files marked as System files. If Spybot actually starts when you click its icon then the files are there - you are just failing to display them.
If you had used the command DIR/AS it would have displayed any files with the System attribute set.

Yes I am sure, but I have now realized the error of my ways. I never went in under explorer and checked to see if it was visible, only via command line. I have a command line and an explorer open side by side. The SpybotSD.exe is visible in explorer but not in the command prompt. So anyone out there that expects it to show up in cmd, it won't. Either way, you should still be able to run the command with SpybotSD.exe whether you see the file in there or not.
