Default Is S&D 1.6 now reliable?

I'm a cautious sort of fellow! (I will now trust flying - in a DC3

Is S&D 1.6 now free of any foibles? Is it best to completely uninstall 1.5 and start over?

    Cheers

    John

Hello johngie. Well, just to name a few, Spybot-Search&Destroy will have improved scanning time and Resident Shields.

Of course you can install Spybot-Search&Destroy over v.1.5, but for a clean installation, I would suggest you uninstall v.1.5 first, reboot, and then upgrade.

Clever analogy, but! It is one thing not to be on the bleeding edge of technology but you don't what to fall behind the maintenance curve of technology either.

Besides the airframes being old in DC3s (the last DC3 off the assembly line was in 1946), I doubt if there are more than a handful of people left who could properly maintain one of the various radial piston engines used on DC3s.

Both using bleeding edge technology and using antiquated technology have their drawbacks.

Getting an answer is one thing, learning is another.

    Totally true,

Well thanks to my 'ok' fencing knowledge, the foible is the thinner part of the blade at the top of the sword (and the forte is the stronger, thicker part of the blade - Forte meaning 'brave' in Latin, if my Latin skills are up to scratch!)

So in this context it would be that johngie was wondering if there were any weaknesses in Spybot 1.6

So in other words, using modern technology and old technology together will have a disadvantage, if not major.

So just for example: Imagine a Windows 98 with a NVIDIA 9800 Graphics Card?

Thanks honda12... I looked up the word, but came up with something doing with a sword and I was like "".

You both have so much knowledge. : )

Yes, that was it!! As far as the airplane analogy goes, I did learn to fly in a pre-war biplane!! (A Tiger Moth, AKA DH82A).

OK, I've now got 1.6. One or two annoyances:

How do I stop it asking to clear my temp directory (I'd rather do that myself)?

How do I get rid of the Hint of the Day?

It seems sluggish after 1.5.2. Updating was very flaky; I had to cancel and restart a couple of times. Is this normal?

Updating depends on the mirror you select. One of the SN mirrors is currently a bit slow at some hours of the day, and waiting for new hardware.

The Temp thing has been filed here; that is implemented in the betas (later in 1.6.1), in 1.6 it can also be disabled this way.

The Hint of the Day issue has been filed here; same thing: change in the betas. Though it is there to annoy, because users wont look at product descriptions without it
