Browser Redirect in IE and Mozilla

Hello,

I have been having problems lately with both IE and Mozilla. AVG has informed me of a threat located in Mozilla Firefox\Components, named 'iamfamous.dll'. I have tried multiple fixes but it still does not work. I am not sure if this is just affecting my Mozilla browser or both, but that is only coming up as a threat that has been detected. That seems to redirect my browser(s) to either an overtune advertising page, or it plainly displays a 404 error to some websites I vist (and that I know are working).

Just as I am about to run Hijack This, I get an error prompt (For the first time)

For some reason your system denied access to the Hosts file. If any Hijacked domains are in this file, Hijack This may not be able to fix this.

If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, Run and type:

notepad "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts"

and press Enter. Find the lines HijackThis reports and delete them. Save the file as "Hosts" (with quotes), and reboot.

AND THEN AFTER CLICKING OK TO THAT PROMPT I GET:

AVG has lost its connection to the server, so it is unable to update. Also, this iamfamous.dll is not showing up when I run my AVG scan, but I know it is there. Also, in Mozilla Firefox\components\ iamfamous.dll is not there.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

• Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
• Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
• Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

When I start HJT, I still get the "Host File Error" (Discribed above)

When you start hjt right click HijackThis.exe and select 'run as administrator'. Otherwise new log won't get generated. Please re-post hjt log by creating log with these instructions.

Hi

You have to reset your router to factory default settings since the infection probably hacked router's DNS settings. Please change router password to stronger one from default.

Reboot and then re-run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Post back its report & a fresh hjt log.

But I cannot reset my router to factory settings, because of the fact that the router at my house, is connected to several offices (Around B.C.), and if I reset the router, I will have no idea how to re-add them...

This infection is not happening the other computers on the network...

Anything else I could try? Because like I said, I have no clue how to re-add them, and if I screw up, my boss will get royaly upset.

I think this is morely happening when I click Google Search Results, Maybe it's a google link Hijack? I dont know...

Hi

You can check it quite easily if router is hacked or not. Login to it and check which DNS IP addresses are there. Let me know the addresses (there're usually 2 addresses).
