The program is installed through a downloaded .exe file. It produces false positives in order to threaten the user to purchase the full version. It also flags Spybot S&D as attackware. It stands in close relation to other rouge products from BulletproofSoft.

Please remove the following files from your desktop.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Shortcuts named "Spyware Striker.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\*.exe".
  • Shortcuts named "Spyware Striker.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\*.exe".

Start Menu:

Please remove the following items from your start menu.
To check where they are pointing to, right-click them and choose "Properties" from the context menu appearing.
  • Items named "Help.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\Help.chm".
  • Items named "Spyware Striker.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\*.exe".
  • Items named "Spyware Striker.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\*.exe".
  • Items named "Uninstall.lnk" and pointing to "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\unins000.exe".

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\Core.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\DataBase.ini".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\English.inf".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\gdiplus.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\Help.chm".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\SpywareStriker.com\SpywareStriker\Scan Session.txt".

  • A file with an unknown location named "bpssr.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If BPSSpywareStriker uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.
