Description:
The downloaded file installs a toolbar and a Browser helper object (BHO). The BHO connects to coupons.com at every Internet Explorer startup in order to download latest updates. The toolbar displays bonus vouchers which can be printed or used online. When uninstalled, nearly all the files and registry entries remain on the system.
Supposed Functionality:
Install a tool which provides "Over $100 in printable coupons right from your browser. Keep informed of the latest offers. Contains no adware or spyware. Coupons from companies like General Mills, Kimberly Clark, Nestle, and Johnson & Johnson."

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "TTB000001.TTB000001Toolbar".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\cpbrkpie.ocx".
  • A file with an unknown location named "cpbrkpie.ocx".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Mozilla Firefox\components\npcpbrk7.xpt".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\npcpbrk7.dll".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\CBBasis.xml".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\CBVersion.txt".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\CouponBarIE.dll".
  • The file at "<$WINDIR>\cpbrkpie.ocx".
  • A file with an unknown location named "couponbar.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If CouponBar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$SYSDRIVE>\WINDOWSCache".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If CouponBar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • Delete the registry key "{9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\".
  • Delete the registry key "{5BED3930-2E9E-76D8-BACC-80DF2188D455}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{62960D20-6D0D-1AB4-4BF1-95B0B5B8783A}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{A85A5E6A-DE2C-4F4E-99DC-F469DF5A0EEC}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "cpbrkpie.Coupon6Ctrl.1", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "{0D700D4A-F8C1-8888-C5BA-CB09D464A4E8}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{6D69B86A-B94C-59EE-BCB8-5F5DF46B2BE8}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{6E780F0B-BCD6-40CB-B2DB-7AF47AB4D4A4}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{A138BE8B-F051-4802-9A3F-A750A6D862D4}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "ToolBand.TTB000000", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "TTB000001.IEToolbar", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "TTB000001.TTB000001", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "{87255C51-CD7D-4506-B9AD-97606DAF53F3}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{9BA983B1-0C05-2DAF-9D1D-7E160077CAF4}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{5BED3930-2E9E-76D8-BACC-80DF2188D455}" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\".

  • Delete the registry key "TTB000001" at "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\".
