Description:
This toolbar for the Internet Explorer reduces the Internet Explorer security settings by allowing locally executed scripts to run. Its primary search function does not work, it uses an untrustworthy domain anomynized by domains by proxy for its primary search. Morpheus Toolbar also has multiple links to advertise various websites like an online casino. P2P search requires a Morpheus P2P client.

You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "MOTB00001.MOTB00001Toolbar".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Morpheus Toolbar\tbu3\morpheustoolbar.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Morpheus Toolbar\inst.bat".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Morpheus Toolbar\morpheustoolbar.dll".
  • The file at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Morpheus Toolbar\toolbaruninstaller.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If MorpheusToolbar uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

  • Delete the registry key "{119DBEDA-9c41-4F97-94B4-B6BCD01133CF}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{E552EEFC-DE97-45D4-BA1A-F534A1B4A579}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{492B2EE4-FF31-49D2-B1FA-3BCE2A1532FC}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{6ACFC827-F262-4F53-BCDD-A9DD8C406BAB}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "MOTB00001.MOTB00001", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "MOTB00001.MOTB00001.1", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "MOTB00001.MOToolbar", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "MOTB00001.MOToolbar.1", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "ToolBand.XBTBPos00", plus associated values.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "ToolBand.XBTBPos00.1", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "{AAACB30A-6ED9-4C62-9A8A-7DE9FA234608}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{119DBEDA-9c41-4F97-94B4-B6BCD01133CF}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\".
  • Delete the registry key "{E552EEFC-DE97-45D4-BA1A-F534A1B4A579}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
