You can try to uninstall products with the names listed below; for items identified by other properties or to avoid malware getting active again on uninstallation, use Spybot-S&D or RunAlyzer to locate and get rid of these entries.
  • Products that have a key or property named "xpdrv32".
  • Products that have a key or property named "WebSearch".

Files:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these files.
  • A file with an unknown location named "Remove.exe".
Make sure you set your file manager to display hidden and system files. If KeywordHijacker uses rootkit technologies, use our RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify files!

Important: There are more files that cannot be safely described in simple words. Please use Spybot-S&D to remove them.

Folders:

Please use Windows Explorer or another file manager of your choice to locate and delete these folders.
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\WebSearch".
  • The directory at "<$PROGRAMFILES>\Windrv".

You will have to use a global search for files without a name specified. Be extra careful, because just the name might not be enough to identify folders!

Registry:

You can use regedit.exe (included in Windows) to locate and delete these registry entries.
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "xpdrv32.class", plus associated values.
  • Delete the registry key "{9D318D1A-25A3-4789-9174-B60F097E95FE}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{C7F18AFA-114B-470A-A781-D2870E9BB69F}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\".
  • Delete the registry key "{31A04FDA-8E2C-425E-94C5-77C834FB2D80}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{F38696FC-7143-4B0A-9052-A7A96E398D11}" at "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\".
  • Delete the registry key "{1FF04B25-0A23-4A12-960C-73F8B9950436}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\".
  • Delete the registry key "{3EF8392C-9743-4CCD-9D8B-D6288F524F0A}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • Delete the registry key "{963004A0-1A62-4740-ABCC-737DE5B5BF4B}" at "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\".
  • A key in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ named "WebSearch.WSearch", plus associated values.
If KeywordHijacker uses rootkit technologies, use our RegAlyzer, RootAlyzer or our Total Commander anti-rootkit plugins.
