Smitfraud-C, Virtumonde.generic and Virtumonde Problem
It stared by me clicking on a link on msn and conversation one by one opening with all my contacts and quickly closing again, like a split second. People complained that they were getting the same type of link that I got. I opened spybot, downloaded 2 updates and ran it. It found Smitfraud-C, Virtumonde.generic and Virtumonde. I tried fixing them and it removed them, I ran the check again because I know some trojans stick around and the Virtumonde ones appeared again. Fixed them, ran scan and they were still there again. After a few minutes my desktop and the task bar vanished. I decided to restart to see if this helped
When I logged back on my task bar keeps popping up for 5 seconds then going. In the process list I can see that its explorer.exe, opening at 5mb usage, getting to 44mb and then closing and reopening itself. If I manually stop the process it stops the loop and all I have is the wallpaper on my desktop. I ran spybot again by remembering the exe name and running it and it has found the three original problems (Smitfraud-C, Virtumonde.generic and Virtumonde).
I've manged to run HijackThis, but I cant be sure if my avg was off as I can't see the task bar, nor does it run on long enough to see the icon, but I think I closed all the respective exe's under processes.
