Because, what I explained in post #28 (Virtumonde detected by Spybot and removing) has occurred a lot of times, but virtumonde has appeared always again (in a few hours or less of using PC). It seems to be fixed; I scan with Panda and Spybot with good results; but some time later, teatimer or manual scan with Panda or manual scan with Spybot has alerted me with Virtumonde. So, I dont know why this time is going to be different .

I do hope what you have explained in post #29 (to remove Panda to let Spybot to remove Virtumonde) fixes the problem, because other times Panda has blocked other infected files and the solution has been something similar: inactive Panda, remove and quickly active Panda again.

Therefore, I supposed I have to wait to Virtumonde appears to delete it without been blocked by Panda. But, maybe, it is not going to appear again.

I see

That is because some programs can restore things (they have "memory"). Panda and TeaTimer are like that.

Please reinstall Panda (if you haven't already done it) and let me know if it stays away.

It seems to be OK . I have scanned twice with Panda and Spybot and Virtumonde doesn't appear. If it continues disappeared for one or two more days, I´ll consider it is removed.

In that case I summarize some steps we have done that I don´t know if we have to undo:

• ERUNT: Can I uninstall?
  
• OTMoveIt3 to move uTorrent: I know we musn't speak on P2P, but this was moved in an special way . To remove it, have I to uninstall or only delete _OTMoveIt directory?
  
• Registry saved in C:\ (for something related with uTorrent too). Can I delete it?

I don't recommend to do that because ERUNT takes complete registry backups and those can be handy if registry gets corrupted for some reason.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***

• Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
• From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
• JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
• Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
• A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11.

Next we remove all used tools.

You can delete rsit and c:\rsit folder.

Please download OTCleanIt and save it to desktop.

• Double-click OTCleanIt.exe.
• Click the CleanUp! button.
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTCleanIt attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

• Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

• Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
• From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
• Click once on the Security tab
• Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
• Click once on the Custom Level button.
• Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  
• Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  
• Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
  
• Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  
• Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
  
• Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
  
• When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  
• If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
• Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

• Install Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is a new and powerful anti-malware tool. It is

• Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Here are some additional utilities that will enhance your safety

• MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer. See also a hosts file tutorial here

I have followed your instructions except the installation of your last suggestions to protect the PC, because I have some doubt:

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Is it a complement for spybot and/or my antivirus (Panda)? or is it a substitute for some of them?

Winpatrol: I think this is a complement to spybot and antivirus. Am I right?


SpywareBlaster and MVPS Hosts file are more specific tools and their function is clearer.


To not bother you more, I tell you that all others steps to clean the PC are made without problems. Besides, I have just scanned the PC with spybot and it seems to be clean. So I think my problem is fixed.
