Default non techie needs help removing malware

    hello
my first time on such a site. I need help - but not very good with the technical side of stuff on my computer. (the deep nitty gritty of the jargon used on this helpful site ;-)).
Anyway I am certain my laptop is infected with malware or spyware inspite of scans on both Norton anti-virus and Spybot S&D showing up NONE.
My laptop is very slow the last few days and every time I go to Google for a search - it takes ages and then the search results that come up have the description of what was searched for but the website addresses are dubious - stuff like: best+deals+ . I clicked on these results 3 times and got totally unrelated sites and 2 of them were porn sites. I'm getting a lot of popups as well.
I would greatly appreciate any help and an explanation (that can be followed by a non-techie) of how to get rid of this malware or even find it on my computer.

    thanks so much in advance
    K
