ad.yieldmanager.com

For the longest time, my visits to Yahoo mail have been interrupted and I am redirected to a Dell search site, searching for ad.yieldmanager.com. I have circumvented the problem for months by blocking ad.yieldmanager.com via the Internet options privacy tab in Internet Explorer. Last week, this stopped working (i.e., I was no longer able to block it). I "fixed" - via HiJackThis - a Browser Helper Object (error redirector). Now I am no longer redirected to the Dell search page, but every new page on Yahoo gets one or two popups stating that ad.yieldmanager.com is trying to access my trusted site, Res://ieframe.dll. Can anyone help me "fix" this problem? Thanks for your time. I have attached my HJT log.

First some information:
Infected websites are the next internet security threats

You can visit an infected website (valid sites get hacked also) and if you do you depend on your security programs to block the infection. Also Yahoo is in bed with the enemy and they will try to load cookies on your computer for all sorts of reasons. Here is how to control that:

My advice is never to allow anything access to your "Trusted Zone" unless you personally are doing it and know the site personally you are allowing. Read about that:

Have a look at what you have allowed in your "Trusted Zone"

Open Internet Explorer > Click Tools > Click Internet Options > Click Security Tab > Click the green Trusted sites checkmark > Click Sites.
Sometimes I can't use a site because of the blocked cookie so I will add them to "Trusted Sites", do what I need to do and then remove them.

Let's do a little cleaning and look a little while you are here.

1) Please DO NOT ENABLE Spybot S&D TeaTimer while we work together.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

4) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

5) Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your Desktop
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
* Please post contents of that file & a new HJT log in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

You have some problems: This can be done as time permits, but it is important.
Uninstall list: I look for malware and security issues and will not know all of your programs, but you should.
Hackers are using out of date programs to infect folks more and more,
Here is a small free tool that lets you know when something needs an update if you are interested:

Thank you so much for all of your recommendations. I have taken care of most of the problems you pointed out. I do not use a router.

I originally had an issue in which visits to Yahoo mail were redirected to a Dell search page. At first, I could block being redirected by blocking ad.yieldmanager.com on the privacy tab in the internet options tool on internet explorer. That tactic stopped working a week or so back. I searched the web for people with similar problems and saw a recommendation on GeekstoGo to remove a BHO (via HJT) called Browser Address Error Redirector. Since then I have no longer been sent to the Dell search page, but I just get these popups with every page change (mostly on Yahoo sites):

"Security Warning
The current Web page is trying to open a site in your Trusted sites lists. Do you want to allow this?
Current site: http://ad.yieldmanager.com
Trusted site: res://ieframe.dll
Yes No
Warning: allowing this can expose your computer to security risks. If you don't trust the current Web page, choose No."

I choose no and everything is fine until I change pages again.
