Default Cannot connect to the net

Hi, I have run malwarebytes, ad aware and spybot with no problems, but I think I do have a problem. My PC will not connect to the net (it tries but has very limited connection). However it runs off of a router and my laptop (which I'm using now has no problems). It also took a couple of attempts to boot this morning which also leads me to suspect problems. When I tried a reboot earlier, it couldn't stop one of the processes "O" so I had to click 'end process'. Tried googling o.exe and it looks like that could be a problem?

Here is my HJT log (had to copy over as the PC in question doesn't have net access. Any help appreciated.

    Hi,

Just an update since I originally posted on Monday. I eventually got the PC to connect to the net, and it was working OK. I have been doing regular checks since and yesterday morning MBAM found Rogue.SunshineSpy, which it got rid of. Here's the log for that before I start on what you've asked for:

Looks like I was worrying about nothing this time... I've been a bit paranoid recently as I seem to keep picking things up since the new year, when I got something really nasty which stole some passwords and got at two websites of mine. I managed to get rid of it myself, changed all passwords and sorted the websites eventually, but I really was beginning to think some type of downloader was lurking that needed more attention. Is there anything else I can do to stop these things? I now have zonealarm, avg, spybot, adaware and mbam which I run regularly, I was wondering if it was worth getting spyblaster as well?

Any advice appreciated, and thanks very much for your help.

    Hi MiniKay

    Remove HijackThis entries
    • Run HijackThis
    • Click on the Scan button
    • Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

      • O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll (file missing)

    • Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
    • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
    • When completed, close the application.

    After that.............

    Congratulations, your log looks clean!

Delete RSIT from your desktop, also delete this folder C:\rsit.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore-WINDOWS XP
This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

    Turn off System Restore
    • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • Check Turn off System Restore.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.
    • Reboot.

    Turn ON System Restore
    • On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
    • Click Properties.
    • Click the System Restore tab.
    • UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
    • Click Apply, and then click OK.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.

Install MVPS Hosts File from here
The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
    Find Tutorial here : http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
    Secunia Software Inspector
    F-secure Health Check

Visit Microsoft often to get the latest updates for your computer.

Since this issue appears to be resolved ... this Topic has been closed. Glad I could help.

Note:If it has been four days or more since your last post, and the helper assisting you posted a response to that post to which you did not reply, your topic will not be reopened. At that point, if you still require help, please start a new topic and include a fresh HijackThis log and a link to your previous thread.

If it has been less than four days since your last response and you need the thread re-opened, please send me or MOD a private message (pm). A valid, working link to the closed topic is required.
