would first step be to try run spybot from usb drive?

Computer will not download CA Security updates. Computer will not do system restore. CD drive has been disabled. I tried to download spybot but file will not connect to server.

If I download spybot to a usb drive will it be able to load? What other steps can I take to clean computer?

Please follow the instructions in this link to produce a HJT log: "BEFORE you POST"(READ this Procedure BEFORE Requesting Assistance)

Then start your own thread in the Malware Removal Forum where an analyst will advise you as soon as available.

If you cannot produce the log, start a topic anyway and give details.
