I believe this is whats infecting my computer.
I read this thread:

and tried to follow the steps. I get StopZilla to work. but when I try to download combofix and I open it, i get the window that pops up and asks me if I wanna run it or not. I click "RUN" then nothing happens. please help!

I just downloaded and installed spybot. i got the icon in the bottom right corner. but couldnt open it. When I tried to open it form the desktop shortcut...same thing...nothing happens.

I installed Spybot and it wont run either!. it installed but when i click the shortcut from the desktop it wont do anything.

also...i dont know if this is related but I only one one CD drive and one dvd drive and I show like 3 or 4 extra cd drives under windows explorer.

Hi,

Download GMER here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:

• Double-click .exe that you downloaded
• Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
• Don't check
  Show All
  box while scanning in progress!
• When scanning is ready, click Copy.
• This copies log to clipboard
• Post log in your reply.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.

• When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt
• Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

I tried to use GMER. i downloaded it, tried to run it, wouldnt work. then the .exe file disappeared. try again, it ran, but then stopped and closed and again...the exe file disappeared

EDIT: when i try to run GMER stopzila gives me a spyware alert. "Search Hijacker.H" what the heck? is this spyware?

Hi,

No, GMER is not spyware. Keep Stopzilla disabled when you run GMER. It probably deleted the exe file.
