Hi Shaba -

I just turned on my computer and I can see a big difference already. The .dll error message has gone away. The helper.sig file no longer comes up every time I start up. And those are beyond what I hoped to get addressed. Thank you very much. And, yes, I am ready for the rest of the instructions.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Now lets uninstall ComboFix:

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

Next we remove all used tools.

Please download OTCleanIt and save it to desktop.

• Double-click OTC.exe.
• Click the CleanUp! button.
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTCleanIt attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

• Disable and Enable System Restore. - If you are using Windows XP then you should disable and re-enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.

• Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
• From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
• Click once on the Security tab
• Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
• Click once on the Custom Level button.
• Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  
• Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  
• Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
  
• Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  
• Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
  
• Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
  
• When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  
• If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
• Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

• Update your AntiVirus Software and keep your other programs up-to-date Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.

• Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.

This is a follow up to your cleanup note to close the loop. Thank you again for all of your help with this and best wishes for the future.

"Now lets uninstall ComboFix:" - ComboFix could not be found. So it must have gotten removed by something else.

OTCCleanIt - Complete

"Disable and Enable System Restore" - this was not necessary; everything was as instructions said it should be.

Under "Make Your Internet Explorer More Secure" - everything checked out except "Navigate sub-frames across different domains" That was not in my list. There was something about "Navigate frames across differnt domains". Is it that one?

Secunia Software Inspector - Could not get it to update the Adobe Reader but I'll try it again. Everything else got taken care of as recommended by scan.

Could not get the "F-Secure Health Check" to run.

Microsoft Windows Update is set to receive automatic updates.

Installed Malwarebytes' anti-malware
Installed SpywareBlaster

MVPS Hosts file - I don't know if I got this to work or not. I'll check tutorial.
Installed Winpatrol.

And last but not least, I will go back into Spybot and check my Resident Teatimer box.

I do have a concern about conflicts with all of the stuff that I am now running; e.g., McAfee Anti-Virus and Firewall, Spybot, Adware, Malwarebytes, Spyware Blaster. But I will see how it goes.

1) I did the System Restore so the starting point is a "clean machine"

2) Can I use Add/Remove to get rid of some of these extra Sun Java programs - Most current version is 6.0.150.0.:

3) I think the best way to handle the inability to update Adobe issue is to uninstall and reinstall? I see an empty Adobe Folder in my Program File and then I see the program outside on it's own outside of the folder but the update says the program is not there.

4) I ran an immunize with Spybot Search & Destroy but then "Scotty" told me it was going to over-ride the "hosts" setting established with MVPS Hosts setting (127.0.0.1) -- so I said not to accept whatever the immunize was going to do.

5) I ran a Spybot Search & Destroy scan and got a good report.

So I think I check out ok. Thanks and bye.
