Unhappy Possible imunization issue to avira 9 SP1

after updating my avira antivirus to sp1

the immunization sometimes crashes and all windows gets disfigured

usually happens when i double check the imunization
(imunize -> check again -> imunize -> check again w/ about 20 secs in between)

i do recieved an "unknown exception 0x0eedfade at 0x7c81224"...?

and also something looks like "not an image (????.dll)" i think it was svhost but not sure

the imunization unprotected part is IE32/64

having 300 protection in version 1.6.2.46 and detection update 10/27/2010

i have just posted the same problem in their forums

Yes, I had the same problem too. Avira Anti-Vir 10 SP1 is the culprit.

But SBS&D isn't the only victim! Get this, BOINC has been tangling with SP1, and it crashes ntdll.dll with an access violation, locks the drive, and causes delayed write failures. (happened on 2 systems, only when running BOINC. 2 other systems unaffected by that crash)

So there is something seriously fouled in SP1 of Anti-Vir 10. I have posted both problems on the Avira forums 2+ days ago with no response yet. So, due to the fact I have work-units to do with BOINC, I changed one machine over to Avast! and the problems seem to magically clear up.

The response by Avira has been aloof IMHO, suggesting in other posts (that you posted) that Tea-Timer should be uninstalled, when it's not even the problem.

This all really hurts, as I used to recommend them, and even have an ad for them on my website. Oh well, bend or break.

Just changed the other machine over to Avast! also.

Are there any free virus solutions that are known to work with, and pay attention to not messing with Spybot Search & Destroy?

the only other antivirus i have is AVG 9 but there is also an issue with spybot

avg 9 may detect spybot's imunize as virus/spyware and just stop and sometime hang spybot only

but it happened very few(3 times) and doesnt seem to happen anymore at my end

    Hello,

It seems that there is a problem with the compatibility between the immunization of Spybot - Search & Destroy and the Guard of the current Avira Version 10.

We have contacted Avira, but did not receive an answer yet.
To avoid the problem temporarely you can do the following:

Click on "Start" (lower left) -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.
There you click on "Change or Remove Programs", choose Avira, then click on "Remove".
Now deinstall the "Avira Guard" in the wizzard (untick the checkbox).

After immunizing Spybot - S&D you can activate the Avira Guard the same way.
An usual disabling of the Guard in Avira itself does not help.
We hope to solve the problem as fast as possible.

    Best regards
